July 4th 2009 at the Lake

For the 4th of July we had plans to go to the lake with several friends and we had reserved a shelter right on the lake. It rained hard all morning and early afternoon. We almost thought we were going to have to cancel . . . but it finally cleared up and everyone showed up =) We had 6 different families, 31 people, and we BBQ and ate all day long. We spent most of our time in the water though.
Amber enjoyed holding this cute little puppyRyan preferred the cool insect
There were several life jackets that everyone passed around so that whoever was riding a seadoo or tube had one one =)
We were supposed to swim at the beach, but we ended up swimming by the slippery rocks since we were all getting on/off the boat and seadoo's there. We didn't' get in trouble, although several of us almost fell . . . . note the word "almost", it was a good day!
the rocks were very slippery and since Amber was the youngest she got some help.
Daniel helped her . . .

. . . and Dakota helped her

Amber liked playing in the sand at the beach. We bought her a bunch of sand toys at Walmart before we left this morning.

Amber didn't ride the tube, all she wanted was to ride in the boat. It was quite the process, but finally we got her on a seadoo and out to the boat. On the transfer from seadoo to boat she got her foot caught on the seadoo kill switch and went in the water head first. She had a life jacket on, but my friend Trish was on the boat and went right in after her. Trish slammed her shoulder on the seadoo and lost her sunglasses, but she was glad to see Amber was just fine (so was I).
Both Amber and Ryan got to ride with their dad =) I got to ride with Colleen, but thankfully no one got a picture (hee hee)
It was pretty cool with two seadoo's and the boat and tube. It kept us busy all day =)
There were two seadoo's so we had three one each, three in the tube and three on the boat, that kept 12 people busy =)

My last picture before the batteries died in my camera. We lined up our chairs by the lake to watch the fireworks. It was good timing, firework pictures don't turn out that great anyway. It poured down rain just after the show ended and as we were climbing into our cars. Almost perfect timing . . . it was a little hairy driving home with the downpour and lightening.
