A little bit about our life, our latest pictures, and what is going on with everyone in our family . . . we each have our own little corner to add whatever we want. Just our way of keeping in touch with friends and family.

Clean-up Time
I told the kids we had to clean up all the Christmas stuff and put it away. Their first chore was to bring all the empty boxes down . . . . we are not off to such a good start (hee hee)
Sleepover
All Christmas vacation the kids have been sleeping in the playroom on the futon. Usually whenever they have a friend over for a sleepover that's where they sleep. So this entire vacation has been one big sleepover for the kids =) I love the look on Amber's face. This picture was taken in the dark, still loving my new camera!
I bought the kids aloe gloves to sleep in. Amber's are pink, Ryan's are black. Ryan's hands are much worse than Amber's, all his knuckles are cracked and bleeding all the time. The entire back of his hands have a thick, dry, cracked, layer (ugh). He doesn't seem to care, so I really have to bug him about putting hand lotion on and wearing the gloves when he sleeps. It's helping! Yea!
Christmas Day
On Christmas Day the neighbor came over with his new toy and took all the neighbor kids for a ride around the neighborhood.

Merry Christmas =)
We told the kids not to wake us until after 7:00 am. They both slept in the playroom on the futon =) We went to a candlelight communion and then got to sleep after 11:00 pm. The kids say they got up at 6:00 am, but they didn't come get us until 7:30 am (yea!). They opened stocking suffers while I baked some carmel rolls. We opened all of the gifts and then had our traditional Egg Puff, a recipe from Mike's mom that we have every year. We still managed to get dressed and out of the house in time for church.
We always try to wait to put out the presents until the kids are already asleep, so when they come down Christmas morning everything is out. I always try to get one picture of the tree with all the gifts, before anything is opened.

Once the stockings are full we always lay them out on the couch.

Opening stocking stuffers.

We get the kids calendars every year, Mike got Ryan this Boeing one from work, Amber got a kitten one (she loves cats).

Ryan uses his blanket as a pillow . . . don't know why, but wanted him to have a super soft blanket since I can't seem to break him of this habit.

We got dad some hot sauce that has an outhouse for a box. Mike tried some on his eggs this morning and said it was HOT! Guess that explains the outhouse (ha ha)

Ryan wanted this guy so bad he hid him on the back of the shelf and then went back to the store and tried to talk them into putting him on hold until after Christmas when he had some Christmas money. But the guy was gone when he went back (I wonder why - ha ha)

Amber got some cute little animals that make noise, a cat and a monkey that make noise (from O'ma and O'pa)

Amber got two adorable scarf's from Randy,Pam, Lauren & Chris. They even went perfectly with the top she had on =)
Ryan got a gift card, and we love the hand made thank you cards from Aunt Pam, even the gift tags are cool! Amber held her's up when I was taking this picture of Ryan - ha ha, it ended up perfectly in the bottom corner =) Love the candle too, Ryan kept saying "this box smells really nice".

Ryan and Amber each got Mike a pair of jeans and a top. Ryan and Amber picked out the tops, I got the jeans.

Ryan's big gift this year, from O'ma and O'pa, a 3DS. He will be using his Christmas money to buy 3DS games =)
Amber's big gift this year, from O'ma and O'pa, an ipod touch . . . well, I got it used off Amazon, but it is in perfect condition. I already loaded 12 hours of music, two free video's, an app so she can read books (like a kindle) and of course the game angry birds (among other things - hee hee)
We went to church for a Christmas service with our church family! The kids had fun dipping fruit into their punch =) It was neat to see everyone, usually we are just home alone all Christmas day, I really liked having Christmas on a Sunday this year!

Merry Christmas to you all! We have definitely had a blessed Christmas this year!

We have been blessed with our old camera for almost six years now and it has served us well, taken every picture for this blog so far and all of our yearly calendars. but thought with the good sales, and turning this blog into a book, we want to try to get better pictures. The new camera is a Cannon Powershot, just like the old, but they have improved some of the lighting I think. What do you think?

7th Grade Band Performance
This is the 1/2 of the 7th grade band that Ryan is in. Their class is so large they have to have 2 bands to accommodate all the kids. Ryan is in the back on the right by the tuba's.

This was all we could really see of Ryan.

It was hard to get a good picture at the concert so I tried to get a couple at home in front of the tree. Ryan liked wearing his nice clothes (and all black) so he and a few other kids wore them to school the day after the concert =) I thought he looked good, but I didn't get the best pictures (sorry), ya had to be here.

Piano Recital and Christmas Party
Amber had her Christmas Piano Recital while Mike was out of town =( But Ryan and I went with her and we took pictures. She fixed her hair and did a great job! We took some brownies (as always) and ended up winning for best tasting dessert . . . WHAT? When they called my name I said "No, I brought the brownies", seriously, I was certain they made a mistake. But she insisted, several people had voted for my brownies and I was the clear winner. I truly didn't believe it, they were just box brownies. I also won the second big prize of the night, the door prize. I usually never win, but I won two of the three big giveaways. It was such a kick.

Debbie had them say their name and age . . . Amber said 10, I didn't think she was nervous until she gave the wrong age (hee hee). She did great though =)

Amber's friends (twin sisters) sang at the recital on Tuesday night so we got to go both nights and had a great time at both too =)

The recital on Tuesday was also worth it because Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood were there. Their daughter goes to Charis for singing and guitar. She sang and played guitar to a song she wrote and she is really good! The girls (Amber, Hannah and Rachel) all got their picture with Garth and Trisha. Trisha said that Hannah (blonde) looked like Taylor Swift at her age. In fact Trisha took Hannah's picture and sent it to Taylor while Hannah was singing (wow). Hannah is a good little singer (hee hee). Anyway, it was a fun and exciting night.
