After some major car repairs ($1,000 on the van and a couple hundred on the Honda), dentist bills (Amber had 4 baby teeth pulled and 2 cavities filled two days before we left)and eye appointments (Ryan has new glasses and Daddy now has glasses as well . . . Amber should get hers in September), we had to be a bit budget conscious. I managed to find a hotel for only $45/night. I knew it wouldn't be a great place, but it had a cool looking indoor pool and an outdoor pool as well. Most of the negative comments on line were that the parking was on a steep hill. I didn't think it was that bad, but they weren't that busy so we got pretty good parking the whole stay. As for the hill, well let's just say it's a five story hotel and both the first and fifth floors were on ground level (so to speak). Hard to picture isn't it (hee hee). As I hoped, the kids loved the indoor pool and spent a lot of time there. We had a room on the second floor overlooking the pool area so that worked out great. You can see Mike standing at the door to our room on second floor on the right.
This is the outdoor pool, but we didn't swim in it (too cold)
We managed to spend 21 hours at Silver Dollar City over three days. We were there before the park opened and stayed until closing each day.
Amber took this picture of us on our Anniversary
Amber asleep in the hotel (how silly)
Amber looking like a little baby in a big, big chair - so cute
goofy kids
Proof that I was indeed there with the rest of the family (I'm usually taking all the pictures)
We missed all the beautiful Fall displays that were everywhere during our last visit. But they did have some pretty flowers.
Of course we did the cave tour. But we took our own pictures instead of buying the one they took (we bought the one two years ago)
We had some strange faces in the cave.
Mike was kind of bummed that none of us would ride the rollercoasters with him, but we watched, took pictures, and he gave us a big thumbs up!
And he's oooooffffffff
Even the tram that takes you from your car to the front gate was a fun "ride" for the kids. They loved getting the jump seat (hee hee)
The kids (all three) loved playing/shooting the balls in the kid area.
The elephant ride was not a favorite of the guys, but Amber had fun =)
Believe it or not this was Ryan's favorite ride - The Big Swing - Mike is on the far right and Ryan is next to him in blue.
I was thrilled that Ryan loved this ride. It was a huge step . . . now my boy was willing to go on rides that I was too afraid to go on. WOW!
Dad was very proud of the boy (so was I) can you tell =)
Wildfire was Mike's favorite ride. (second row, on the left, on the end)
The little swing was my favorite ride.
The Tea Cup ride was Amber's favorite =)
This ride was the only ride next to the Giant Swing so Amber spent a lot of time on it.
It was a fun, memorable and affordable vacation! We all had a good time and we already have a game plan for our next visit.(No, we will not be staying at this hotel again, but it served it's purpose this time)
